creator’s purpose

content

he’s been reading the 12 week year which changed the way he looked at setting goals and hence the title of this vlog is how i set goals and systems - which i think can be an interesting method to dive more into.

he had a conversation with another creator friend of his, about how bringing a proper tripod alone will allow for much better shots, but only when we stop caring about what others think - and i honestly think it’s not so easy to just say ignore what others thing, it’s simple but it’s not easy.

they also talked a little about goal setting and how it’s so important that metrics alone isn’t something that we should aim for, it can be the north star and something you check from time to time but it shouldn’t be your why or sole reason for creating - love the process and reap the rewards as it comes.

he’ll be doing a think week by bill gates soon

setting your goals based on a 12 week timeline, instead of looking at things annually, condense those visions into 12 week goals

for example, if the vision is 100k subscribers, then the goal is to be consistent, and to minimally post once a week on youtube. similarly for short form and other platforms or skills, whatever that daily mvp is, we have to be intentional about it.

so that within the timespan of 12 weeks, there’s a much higher chance we will hit our goals because we are more intentional everyday and also there’s evidence online that shows that we humans just work better when there’s a shorter limit and time crunch - the problem with annual goals, is that 12 months or one year is such a long timeframe, that most of the time even if we don’t keep up the first few months, we still feel that there is time to catch up, and like most people, sooner or later it’ll be the end of the year and another year of our life is gone, and again back to the drawing board, rinse and repeat.

and if you do fail or not achieve your goal within the 12 weeks, you will know that it’s perhaps a problem with the goal and not the effort itself - for example, if you want to earn 10k dollars at the end of 12 weeks, but you’re not investing and you’re not doing any side hustle, but your only plan is to do a part time job that pays $12/h, then mathematically, it just doesnt add up and even if you dillgently go every single work hour, at least at the end of the 12 weeks you know that the tactics applied for this goal is flawed, and not the system itself.
